Rosalia and Rosario have four known children, named after their grandparents, as is traditional: Salvatore (1905), Providenza (1906), Calogero/James (1909), and Anna (1912).
Salvatore is born 6 November 1905 in Manhattan.[4] His father says he was born 26 October 1905.[2]
Providence, or Providenza, is born 18 November 1906 in New York.[2]
Rosario Lascala, age 25 (b. 1884), born in Italy, and Rosolia Catania Lascala, age 20 (b. 1889), born in Italy, have a son, Calogero Lascala, on 20 February 1909 in Manhattan.[5] In his 1920 naturalization, Rosario calls Calogero "James" and reports his birth date on 28 February 1909[2]

In the 1910 federal census of Manhattan, Rosario Lascala, 26 (b. 1884), heads a household at 2083 2nd Av. with his wife of five years (m. 1905), Katania (Rose's last name at birth), age 21 (b. 1889). She has had 3 children, all living. At home are Salvator, 4 (b. 1906), Providence, 3 (b. 1907), and Calogero, 1 (b. 1909). According to this census, Rosario was born in New York of Italian parents and his wife is Italian born. The children were born in New York. Rosario is employed in a bakery as a baker and his wife works from home with “Willow plumes.”[6]
Anna is born 24 August 1912 in New York.[2]

He has a dark complexion, is white, stands 5’8”, weighs 195#, black hair, brown eyes, born in Palermo, Italy on 16 December 1881. In the 1920 federal census of the Bronx, Rosalia and her husband live next door to her brother, Antonio, his wife and children, and their mother. Rosario Lascala, 35 (b. 1885), heads a household at 2251 Hughes Ave. He immigrated in 1904, the same year as his wife Rose, 30 (b. 1890), from Italy. With them are their children Salvatore, 14 (b. 1906), Providenza, 13 (b. 1907), Calogero, 9 (b. 1911), and Anna, 7 (b. 1913), all born in NY. Rosario is the proprietor of a chicken market.[8]
Rosario La Scala petitions for naturalization. He lives at 2059 1st Avenue, NYC. He works in poultry. He was born 16 December 1881 in Palermo, Italy. Emigrated from Palermo 9 August 1902 and arrived in the US in New York on 12 August 1902 on the Perugia. He declared his intention to naturalize on 16 April 1917 in New York’s Supreme Court in the Bronx. He is married to Rosalia, who was born in December 1890 in Italy. She lives with him. Rosario has four children: Salvatore, born 26 October 1905. Providence, born 18 November 1906. James, born 28 February 1909. And Anna, born 24 August 1912. All born in New York and reside with him. Rosario’s witnesses are Luis Mazzea, in poultry, living at 314 E. 106th St., and Pietro Di Miceli, contractor, living at 344 E. 106th St., NYC. Sworn 22 November 1920.[2]
In the 1925 New York state census of the Bronx, Rosario La Scala, 41 (b. 1884), heads a household at 523 E. 187th St. with his wife Rosa, 35 (b. 1890), and children Salvatore, 20 (b. 1905), Providence, 18 (b. 1907), James, 16 (b. 1909), and Anna, 13 (b. 1912), and his father Salvatore La Scala, 85 (b. 1840). Rosario and his wife and father were born in Italy and the children in the US. Rosario has been in the US for 23 years (since 1902) and became a citizen in NY in 1920. His wife arrived a year later (in 1903). His father has been in the US for 18 years (since 1907) and is an alien resident. Rosario and his son, Salvatore, are employed in a poultry market.[9]
Providenza marries Francesco Cina on 29 April 1928 in the Bronx.[10]
In the 1930 federal census of the Bronx, taken 7 April, Rosario La Scala, 46 (b. 1884), heads a household at 3714 White Plains Road with his wife, Rose, 40 (b. 1890). They married at ages 21 and 16, respectively. They were born in Italy and immigrated in 1901 and 1902 respectively. They are naturalized citizens. Rosario is a self-employed retail merchant in the bakery industry. Their children live with them (they’re on the next page). Salvator, 24 (b. 1906), James, 21 (b. 1909), and Anna, 17 (b. 1913), all born in NY. Also living with them is Rosario’s father, Salvator Sr., 91 (b. 1829), a widower. Salvatore Sr. came in 1909 from Italy. The children all work for the bakery: Salvator is a baker, James does deliveries, and Anna is a clerk.[11]
Calogero Lascala, age 21 (b. 1909), born in NYC, marries Eleanor H. Wiener, age 21 (b. 1909), born in Hungary, on 3 December 1930 in Manhattan.[12]
In the 1931 Manhattan city directory, there are La Scala listings at 3714 White Plains Rd for Rosario, Salvatore, and Calegero.[13]
Anna marries Calogero Giattino marry 3 November 1935 in the Bronx.[14]
Salvatore marries Angela Terranova on 26 July 1936 in the Bronx.[15] Angela is the daughter of Vincent "The Tiger" Terranova, Ciro's brother.
Rosario La Scala, 56 (b. 1879), and Amalia La Scala, 47 (b. 1890), both of 3714 White Plains Ave., New York, NY, appear on the manifest of US citizens who embarked at Naples on the Conte Di Savoia, traveling Tourist class, arriving 7 October 1937 in New York.[16]
In the 1940 federal census of the Bronx, taken 4 April, Rosario La Scala, 56 (b. 1884), heads a household at 3714 White Plains Road. He owns his home, worth $5,000. With him is his wife Rose, 56 (b. 1884). Both were born in Italy.[17]
Rosario La Scala dies on 7 May 1941 in the Bronx. HIs address is 3714 White Plains Rd., Bronx. He was 55, married, a baker, born 16 December 1885 in Italy. He is buried in Woodlawn Cemetery on 10 May 1941. Rosario is the son of Salvatore La Scala and ...iolenza Virga, both born in Italy. His spouse’s name is Rosalia.[1]
Rosario La Scala memorial page on FindAGrave says he’s buried in the La Scala Mausoleum in Larch, Section 111 of Woodlawn Cemetery in the Bronx.[18]
Rosalia dies 9 January 1977 in the Bronx.[19]
